Worn Out Momma

Hello my friends!   Nicolle here and let me tell you how awesome our God is!  Never did I imagine that I would be helping a group of women's ministry grow in the word of God!  I always had a heart for ministry, and I had dreamed of being involved with a women's group, little did I know that God had plans for me!  When I first joined the bible journaling group with Bridgett and Maria, I thought- I am not crafty and I have a difficult time reading the word.  I quickly learned that this is not just about creating a beautiful page, it is about worship!  I have learned so much of God's promises in His word and I even remember them!  We have met so many women and heard their stories and watched God work in their lives.  God is so good!  A few months ago, God placed it on my heart to write a devo for our group.  I said Oh Lord, anything but that!  He told me, I am not asking you, I am telling you!  Yes, Lord.  I didn't tell any of my friends, I kept silent and prayed.  Then the opportunity came, and I said, Yes, Lord.   At first I was not sure what my topic should be.  As I listened to my two best friends tell me of their struggles (we text every day!!)  and also dealing with my own struggles, I realized it was a common struggle and I knew He wanted me to speak on this topic.

My favorite scripture is Proverbs 31: 10-31  A Wife of Noble Character
Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?  She is more precious than rubies.
Her husband can trust her.  And she will greatly enrich his life.
She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.

verse 25:  She is clothed in strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future.
When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.

As wives and mothers, we have many duties we are responsible for.  Many of us have jobs or own businesses and take care of the household.  Our kids have extra curricular activities and some of us have elderly family members that need our help.  Then on top of all that, we are to serve others in discipleship.  Add in financial stress, health stress or maybe anxiety and you are left with an overwhelmed woman.    What happens when we get overwhelmed?  Frustration.

When we get frustrated we lose patience, maybe even get irritable and/or angry.  You might even fall behind on tasks or become forgetful.

You might have a difficult time sleeping even when you feel exhausted.  And when you become overly stressed, illness may take over your body.

Stress from being overwhelmed can lead to being worn out.  Where your life is full, but your spirit is empty.

There is good news-- There is HOPE!

Within The Bible is truth, healing, hope, and REST!

Jeremiah 31: 25
I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.

Isaiah 40:31
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.  They will soar high on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not faint.

Matthew 11:28
Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Exodus 33:14
My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.

Psalm 91:1
She who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of The Almighty!

Galatians 6:9
so let us not get tired of doing good.  At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessings if we do not give up.

So what should we do when we are overwhelmed?
     TURN TO GOD
Spend time in His Word.  Seek Him.  Always set time aside for quiet time in God's Word and PRAY
     PRAY PRAY PRAY
I have found that when I am worried, stressed, or anxious I pray and let go and give it to God.  And then I feel His peace!

So how do we keep from getting overwhelmed?
-Be organized!  The new planner trend got it right folks!  Having a planner or calendar can help keep track of all your to-dos and keep you focused!

-Don't be afraid to say NO!  Just because the PTA asked you to bake 3 dozen cookies for tomorrows bake sale, does not mean you should say yes.  Do not stretch yourself thin, know your limit and gracefully decline.

-Make time to spend in God's work!  Bible Journal ladies!! :)   I don't know about you, but journaling is not only fun, but I learn more about His truths and promises!  The answer to our situations is available in HIS WORD!!

-Family time.  Schedule it!  Make it fun.  TURN OFF THE CELLPHONES!!  Make a rule -- no electronics and connect with your family!

-Fellowship.  We were not meant to do life alone.  Not only do we need encouragement, but so do our friends.  Be a good listener.  Pray for one another.  Encourage and support one another and I bet you will find peace in your situation when you show compassion for others!

Thank you for visiting our Blog today!   We hope you find rest and peace with Jesus Christ!

Father God we thank you for your promises of rest!  We know your word is true!  I pray that we not only hear your promises but that we receive them.  May we be confident in your strength and power and rest our burdens at your feet!  I pray blessings over all who read this testimony and may they find renewed strength and comfort in your word!   Amen.
