Illustrated Faith Word Nerd Review ♥

Hello Lovelies!! I'm so excited to be sharing with you my first review of the Illustrated Faith monthly kit! This month the kit is called Word Nerd and it couldn't be cuter!! The silhouette and the glasses!! #allthehearteyes First and foremost I must say I LOVE the new formats! LOVE LOVE LOVE! I work full time and have 3 kids in all kinds of activities, so needless to say life is hectic. I always struggled to keep up with the other devotionals because I just couldn't make the time. I would at least read and make notes in the notebook but there is only a handful that I actually got to complete and journal the WHOLE thing! The last two months I have not only been able to complete the devotionals, journal them, and even dive deeper! So I am a happy camper! YAY! In the above picture, I have the entire contents of the envelope kit all spread out. Can you see how cute the die cuts are!
You'll see this kit has the same as the last few months, 4 devotional cards with the content and scripture to focus on. Again I just love the silhouette and the stack of books!!
You also get 4 extra journaling cards with scripture and journaling prompts on the back. Some of them correspond to that week's devotion and some are different. These would make a good tip in you can create a page around and journal on the back. Or, you could even assemble them with the devotional cards into some type of booklet. There are some ladies that have gotten uber creative with that! Just search the hashtag for whatever kit your looking for and see for yourself!
In the above picture you'll see the washi tape which has three phrases:
The best book is the good book - Bible Bookworm - #wordnerd
Some of the cute die-cuts (these may be my favorite part)
Along with the two sticker sheets which are a matte finish and are clear. They have an assortment of tabs, arrows to mark your verse - and embellishments. You can stick them onto your page as is or if you want to stick them onto cardstock and then cut them out. I did that with my hearts I used for my first weeks devo, which I will show you in a minute.
And last but not least the stamps!!! Cute-cute-cute!! You'll get that gorgeous silhouette, a pencil, glasses, Bible Nerd and the other stamp says the Word lights the Way. ♥
I first got a chance to dive into it the other night. I rummaged through my supplies and pulled out some elements that I might want to use that I thought went with my kit. I also have white and clear gesso. I typically use clear unless I have some bleed through from the other side of the page, like I do on this one, then I use the white to help mask it.
So to take notes I made a Travelers notebook insert from the kraft envelope the kit came in. I filled it with some cute paper so I can write and decorate it as I go. I just cut it down to the same size as my other notebook and folded it.
As you see here I dove right into the first devo taking notes as I read the first chapter of John. Let me tell you it is chocked full of all kinds of truth and goodness!
The following night I actually got to put my ideas to art (the fun part) My idea was to do like a reverse silhouette. I love how first John tells us that Jesus is the light and when we accept him and believe his light is in us, he gives us life. So I stuck the devotion card behind and traced. I painted the inside a pearly white. I used several colors from the Prima Decadent Pies & Pastels palette that I thought were similar to the kit. I started with the lighter color and worked my way darker using my water brush. When that was done I used the stickers from the kit to cardstock and cut them out. I stamped the word lights the way & added my embellishments.
I went over the outline with a grey colored pencil and added some little accents with a black Faber-Castell marker to complete the page!

So that's all I have for you today! Hope you enjoyed my review and my first week's page!
